Focused at the intersection of sports and entertainment, Medium Rare partners with global icons to build live event brands and create content. Its festivals with Shaquille O’Neal and Rob Gronkowski, Shaq’s Fun House and Gronk Beach, each generated billions of media impressions.

Medium Rare used a WP Engine-powered WordPress site to produce an epic live stream—Shaq’s Fun House vs. Gronk Beach, presented by The General Insurance— that reached millions of viewers around the world and raised money for charity.

  • The ChallengeA media-rich hub, built at speed

When COVID-19 canceled hundreds of live events, Medium Rare pivoted to a virtual broadcast to support charity.

Medium Rare needed to rapidly build a scalable, media-rich site to serve as both a promotional hub ahead of the event and the day-of destination for a major live-streamed charity party.

  • The SolutionScaled for a Viral Moment

Medium Rare built the site on WP Engine using AWS cloud infrastructure, Global Edge Security, and added Shopify integration so merchandise sales could benefit charity partners directly.

The ResultOne of the most popular livestreams ever

The event reached all 50 states and more than 100 countries, generating over 20 million social media views within 24 hours and more than 540,000 comments, likes, and interactions during the livestream itself. This livestream also raised six figures for the NAACP and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and provided a donation of over 1 million meals to Feeding America.
