With a rousing chorus of applause, hundreds of WP Engine employees welcomed a handful of our new counterparts from Flywheel on Wednesday afternoon in true WP Engine fashion—by lining up throughout the hallways of our downtown Austin headquarters and giving each new team member a high five.

The celebratory welcome capped off a busy few days at WP EngIne. On Monday, we announced that we had entered into an agreement to acquire Flywheel, a WordPress hosting, and management company based in Omaha, Neb.

The acquisition is a huge milestone for both companies, and together, we will now help more than 120,000 customers in 150 countries win online. We’re excited to join forces and offer a more comprehensive and optimized product portfolio to our growing customer base.

The acquisition also represents a significant addition to our internal WP Engine family. The addition of Flywheel represents a 28% increase in our total employee count. Today, nearly 900 WP Engine employees occupy seven offices around the world. Flywheel’s office in Omaha now represents WP Engine’s second-largest presence, behind our Austin HQ.

As WP Engineers, we believe a key ingredient of our success, even during times of growth, has been strategic and consistent attention and cultivation of our employee culture and core values, which were on full display Wednesday when we welcomed our newest colleagues from Flywheel: Dusty Davidson, Co-founder & CEO, Rick Knudtson, Co-founder & Chief Product Officer, Karen Borchert, COO, Kaitlin Grohmann, VP  of Customer Experience, and Jamie Bell, Director of Marketing. We are thrilled to warmly welcome them and all 200+ Flywheel employees to the WP Engine family.
